I loved this lesson
Months later, my students still use this lesson as a touchpoint when discussion slope, linear functions, and the y intercept. In fact, I taught this lesson before I introduced any of that formal vocabulary, and it made the ideas pop out to them so much more easily that teaching slope-intercept form was a snap.
I really recommend this lesson for students dipping into algebra. I did it with my 7th graders at the end of the year (they take Algebra 1 in 8th grade).

With this simple prompt we’ll explore the major topics surrounding linear functions, from slope, y-intercept and y = mx + b, to solving equations, parallel lines and linear vs. non-linear functions.
Along the way, we'll learn how Apple charges for its products. Do they charge a constant amount for each additional GB of memory? Should they?
