Excellent

My students really enjoyed this activity. The student handout and the lesson guide for the teacher are wonderful. The students were engaged in this lesson the entire time. They really liked comparing the theoretical and experimental probabilities. It was a great lesson to demonstrate these probabilities.

Big Hit

I’m a high school junior who just taught this lesson to a group of kids at a local middle school, and one of their teachers described their focus level as, “the most attention I’ve ever seen them give to a math lesson.” This lesson was fun and unorthodox (yet educational), as well as fairly easy to teach.

The Gist

60-80 minutes

Is Wheel of Fortune legit? In this lesson we’ll use percents, bar graphs & pie charts to compare the theoretical & experimental probabilities of the famous game show. After predicting how often we’d expect the wheel to land on each amount, we’ll watch an episode to see how often it really does. Is the show legit, or is something suspicious going on?
